    New homes pace building permits in September
    Homebuilding paced construction permits issued in September by the city of Brenham.
     
    The city last month issued 31 permits totaling $1,864,830 in new construction, renovations and additions.

    That brought the 2015 total to 243 permits and $24,677,415.
     
    Through September 2014, the city issued 287 permits totaling $21,171,491.
     
    Eight permits for new homes were issued last month, with construction costs totaling $1,483,035.
    Those included a $512,900 residence and another for $486,935. Both are located on the 2200 block of Carondetet Court.
     
    For the year, 35 permits for new homes have been issued ($3,361,078).
     
    Through September last year, 69 permits were issued for new homes ($6,935,396).
     
    Other permits issued last month were (the year-to-date totals are in parentheses):
     
    • Residential renovations — Seven permits, $36,100 (46 permits, $881,351).
     
    • Residential additions — Eight permits, $79,350 (17 permits, $152,684).
     
    • New commercial construction — Five permits, $238,660 (47 permits, $13,457,071).
     
    • Commercial renovation — Three permits, $27,685 (11 permits, $31,885).
