    New BSSLC director welcomed
The new director of the Brenham State Supported Living Center officially met the community Wednesday at a “meet and greet” hosted by the school’s Volunteer Services Council.

Brad Benoit took over as BSSLC on July 11.

“We are thrilled to introduce him to our community and welcome him to Washington County,” said Joel Romo, VSC chairman.

“The Brenham State Supported Living Center has over 200 residents and is one of the largest employers in the county, and as a community, as parents, as a workforce, we stand ready to assist Mr. Benoit with his new role.”

Benoit has worked in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities for more than 19 years, with most of his experience in state-operated intermediate care facilities (ICFs) in Louisiana and Washington state.

He started his career in the field, performing direct support duties, and later moved into roles such as direct support staff supervisor, case manager, case manager supervisor and serious incident investigator.

After receiving his master’s degree in health care management from the University of New Orleans, Benoit served in various senior-level executive management roles within state-operated facilities.

He has worked on a variety of regulatory issues.
