    Building permits total $1.1 million
    The city of Brenham issued $1,143,413 in building permits during February.
    The 30 permits issued last month were for new construction, renovations and additions and brought the yearly total to date to $3,188,949 (51 permits).

    For the first two months last year, the city issued 46 permits totaling $5,435,589.
    The largest permit for February was $255,680 for a new home. Valmont Industries also took out a $220,000 permit to demolish a foundation.
    Homebuilding surged last month, with eight permits ($748,488) issued in that category.
    For the year, 13 permits for homes have been issued ($1,192,608).
    No permits for new commercial construction were issued last month.
    Other permits issued last month were (the yearly totals are in parentheses):
    • Residential renovations — Five permits, $44,525 (10 permits, $65,924).
    • Residential additions — Nine permits, $83,020 (13 permits, $102,687).
    • Commercial renovations — Two permits, $15,600 (five permits, $60,100).
    • Commercial additions — Two permits, $15,280 (four permits, $1,523,080).
    Two residential demolition permits were also issued. One permit was also issued to move a residential structure.
